Otherwise you remain a teenager and annoy alot of people that have grown up. Being an adult doesn't mean being boring, it just means holding yourself accountable for your own actions. Some people think growing up means losing something that is beautiful and young and eternal. I disagree. The people that lose the fun of being a child have simply been overwhelmed by their new responsibility and have forgotten how to have fun constantly (hence the reason alcohol is such a strong industry).

If you were like me as a kid, you adored the big people around you and wanted to be just like them. You saw how carefree they were and how they were just so "cool". And its only natural that we all try to be like those awesome adults. But too many of us make HUGGEE mistakes when going about this. Many of us get into "uncool" things, like drugs and unhealthy relationships.

If you are reading this please, pleeease make me this promise. You will find one of the mistakes you may have made growing up, and you will correct it. I will share with you my big mistake. (one example of a mistake is anything that feels good while doing it, but feels bad later).

While I was growing up my family went through many changes. Those changes involved adding more siblings through marriage, and moving around alot, but I was the oldest and the one held responsible. So the one thing I learned is how to be accountable. Great, because that's one many people miss. Ok, so one thing that slipped by me without notice was my ability to constantly have fun. When I was very young I was always being told to stop doing things, got into things I shouldn't have been in, asked questions that made adults uncomfortable, and just flat out acted like my obnoxious self.

Now looking back on that 4 year old version of me, I think, I was AWESOMEE. Think about what would have happened if Christopher Columbus kept his mouth shut and didn't say that he thought there was opportunity elsewhere. Or if Abe Lincoln didn't share his opinion that slavery was wrong. Or if MLK Jr. didn't share that all people are born equal! Nobody wanted to HEAR THAT stuff. People told them to stop and to not speak out when it wasn't appropriate. And they were definitely getting into things they shouldn't have been in.

So anyway, that's my deal. Getting back the meddling little me I used to be. I've made huge progress, but I still feel I hold out sometimes. And if YOU hold out, alot of people miss out on you that would've that you were pretty cool.

Because money and wealth is just a game that tests us on how much we think we are worth. I don't know about you, but I think I'm worth more than all of the money in the world. I don't know about you, but dedicating an hour of my time, of my full concentration and all that my spirit has to offer, and entire HOUR of pure "me", is worth more than 8 dollars. Its worth more than 10, 12, or even 16 dollars. Think about, is 10 dollars alot of money? I used to think so, but I now strive for continuous growth that is rewarded by pay. I want it all, and trust me, more money just means I'm growing. If I didnt need money to eat every day, I could care less. I'm not guilty of loving money, but I'm guilty of loving the excitement of the game. I was put on this earth to grow, just like everything else was. And I intend to do so just the best I can. Here's to life. :)

How to Get a Job in Under 2 Weeks(In Detail)

I've recently noticed that more people than ever are unable to find work in these hard times. I mean like I knew that unemployment rates are high, but some people I know have been out of work for over a YEAR. How they've survived that long is a wonder in itself, but the keys to locking in a good job should not be a mystery at all. For some reason, this process always takes 1 to 2 weeks.

I have never had a hard time finding work. Call it luck or connections, I call it knowing the game. Even in this "recession", TONS of people are hiring. I just got offered two jobs yesterday and I don't even need one! I just ended up talking to the right people, and here's how you do it.

So I will go over the basics in this article, and touch on details in later points, but the main thing I will say is LET THEM KNOW WHO YOU ARE. You can touch up your resume for weeks, but if you want a job and just fill out the appplication, guess what? You're just one piece of paper in a giant stack of papers (or emails). Here are some action steps (that can be scary at first, I know) that WILL put you in better standing than 97% of the other applicants.

1.Go to the place you want to work, and ask who the hiring manager is. Get their name and remember it, because they will decide whether or not you have what it takes.

2. To find out if they are hiring, I like to say,"Do you have any positions available?" or "So do you know if you need any extra help around here?". I rarely ask, "Are you hiring?" because it sounds less like you know what you're doing.

3. Ask for an application, and submit it as soon as possible, along with your resume.

4. Call the same day, and find out when that hiring manager person is gonna be there. Then call them back (usually the next morning between 8-noon) and say, "Hi, my name is Sean Ruiz and I was just wondering if you've had a chance to look at my application?" Say my name and you got yourself a job, fa sho ;) jk.

Make sure not ask if they are hiring first, because if they say "no" the conversation is OVER. Ask that question afterwards. If they are for sure not hiring, move on to the next employer. You can't afford to waste time because your bills will not wait for you to get a job. The repo man won't mind that you're giving him work to do. So at least TRY my strategy, and let me know if works or not so we can figure it out together. The path to your dream is just that, a path. It's a path that you walk along. I mean, you can run sometimes, but you'll get tired, and you have to remember to enjoy the view. Our dream is something we want to achieve, some place we want to go, or someone we want to become. The way we get their is by working at it every day, and never forgetting to enjoy the life we have. Oh yeah, and don't turn back. Abraham Lincoln said, "I may walk slowly, but I never walk backwards." So make sure you are getting closer to your goals every day, even if it's just one inch closer, cuz that one inch means that you have momentum. You are picking up speed towards your goal, and no one can stop you. Some life events (opportunities for growth) might slow you down, but they will only make you stronger.

If You Are Scared of Something, Read This

Look, we all get scared some times. But the truth is, some times we are scared of something that we really need to do. I have a found a way to handle this. You have to use your own fear to propel yourself to get that thing done. I am scared crapless of things done some times. Especially when I skateboard, and I am trying a flip trick down 10 stairs. But there's 2 sides to the coin. I'm scared of falling on the concrete, but what about my fear of not doing my best? How will I feel 20 years from now, knowing I could have nailed that nollie kickflip when I had the chance? I use THAT fear to propel myself to do my best.

Look at the other side of the coin of fear. Some things will be alot worse if you don't do what you are so scared of.

It's lazy-itous. And the person you dream of becoming slowly dies when you get infected.

Nothing is more sad than seeing your dream image of yourself never happen, nor even get close to coming true. Life is about growth, and you can choose to grow and grow and grow, and love yourself for who you truly are (and will be). Or you can waste valuable time that you have been given on earth and be stupid. Please, make the decision to FIGHT LIKE HELL for the sake of your dream self. Keep them alive, or they will be really sad. Their destiny is in your hands, and you KNOW they deserve a fighting chance. So keep pushing, the life you dream of is around the corner, and it won't wait around forever. Maybe, say..... 70 years?

There's always someone ringing the bells of doom and gloom. News stations are huge on this. The thing is, bad things do happen, but is it really good for you to listen to negativiy all day? I say, get the facts, get the major world news (excluding sex scandals and celebrity personal lives), and work hard to better your own life. If you are in business (which we all are) it is important to be aware of whats going on in today's market to keep up. Just make sure to seperate facts from opinion. Many news stations and journalists of the business world twist the facts in their favor. When a news station is sponsored by a major corporation, and the corporation profits from how they manipulate our people, how can you expect them to be honest in their reports?

Be sensible, read some books, and develop YOUR OWN view of this world we live in, and stop watching the freaking news.

Hate solving problems? You might wanna do what I do. Do a flipperoo! that means keep your brain soft and mallable, so that you dont get "stuck in your ways". Read an article or book by someone who has contradictory views (and actually knows what they are talking about) about something you actually care about. This is why I love economics books. They do the best job of flipping problems upside down to "get to the bottom of things" (yes, pun intended). Two good ones are Naked Economics and one Im reading called More Sex Is Safer Sex.

Whatever you do, keep your brain soft like a childs, so you dont get stuck. :P

Hi, I just finished a book called The Big Short, by Michael Lewis. I just had to tell you about what I just learned. There is a whole world out the that most people don't know about. Well they know it exists, but its nature is very complex and purposefully hard to understand. When I was growing up, no one explained to me what a credit default swap was, even though it was invented before I was born. And no one told me that this swap would be a big factor in upcoming economic upheavals that threaten the jobs and livelyhoods of millions of Americans.

Now, I personally have not been negatively affected by this recession were in, my resources and positive attitude keep me employeed and moving forward. But for the rest of america there is a different story. I hope that you can learn from what I have to say if you are in a tricky situation (unemployed, broke) and need some financial help. Just know that if getting a job is a big deal to you, there is a much bigger picture than just you, and if you can grasp that bigger picture I believe that there are great riches available to you and everyone who knows about it.

Its yours for the taking, lets do this.

What the heck is a Credit Default Swap??

I was wondering the same thing after watching capitalism, a love story. So in this book im reading, with a book review coming up soon, its better described as a bet. A credit default swap really isnt a swap at all, it is insurance bought on a mortgage, where the purchaser of the swap is hoping that the borrower defaults on the loan. Because when the borrower defaults on the loan, the guy who bought the swap gets paid, and it's way more than he paid out.

So its like gambling, and wall street is the casino. Except it almost cant be called gambling when done right, because math and logic can totally remove any chance of you losing money. Im not sure if it's legal or not, but i've seen the equation for it and its ridiculous. Lets just say not everyone loses money when the economy goes down. Its just a transfer of wealth....
